Introduction to SQL

Description

If you work with web development or databases at any level you need SQL. SQL is a powerful language that is not terribly difficult to grasp. This one-day, hands on course covers the basics of the SQL language with a focus on SELECT queries.

If you are a database administrator working with Microsoft's SQL Server or with Sybase you will want the Introduction to Transact-SQL course.

Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Use SQL confidently to perform queries
  2. Write simple queries quickly and efficiently
  3. Easily analyze SQL queries and statements using proper terminology, syntax, and format
  4. Modify queries and statements as needed to performance tune and refine the code

Course Length

1 day

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have a reasonable proficiency with the computer at least equivalent to the IC3 certification and have a good eye for troubleshooting and proofreading. You do not need to have previous programming experience but it is helpful have an understanding of what SQL does and why you are learning it.
